CARE & MAINTENANCE GUIDE

PET Felt Acoustic Products

PET felt acoustic products are designed for long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance. Proper care helps preserve the appearance, surface texture and overall quality of the material throughout its service life.

1. ROUTINE CARE

Regularly remove surface dust using a soft, dry, lint-free cloth or a vacuum cleaner fitted with a soft brush attachment.

When vacuuming, use low suction and move the brush gently across the surface without applying excessive pressure.

For ceiling baffles, suspended panels and other elevated products, periodically inspect horizontal surfaces and edges where dust may accumulate.

Recommended routine:

  • Lightly dust or vacuum as required.

  • Use only soft, non-abrasive cleaning tools.

  • Pay particular attention to exposed edges and horizontal surfaces.

  • Increase cleaning frequency in high-traffic or dust-prone environments.

2. SPOT CLEANING

Treat spills and marks as soon as reasonably possible.

First, use a clean, dry cloth to gently blot any excess liquid. Do not rub the affected area, as aggressive rubbing may alter the PET felt surface.

For light marks:

  1. Dampen a clean microfiber cloth with clean lukewarm water.

  2. Gently blot the affected area.

  3. If necessary, use a small amount of mild detergent diluted in water.

  4. Work gently from the outside of the mark toward the centre.

  5. Remove any cleaning residue using another lightly dampened clean cloth.

  6. Blot excess moisture with a clean, dry cloth.

  7. Allow the material to air dry completely.

Always test any cleaning solution on a small, inconspicuous area first.

3. STUBBORN STAINS

If a mark cannot be removed using water and mild detergent, a suitable fabric or upholstery cleaner may be considered.

Always check that the cleaner is compatible with polyester/PET felt and test it on a concealed area before treating the visible surface.

For extensive staining, general soiling or situations where the appropriate cleaning method is uncertain, professional cleaning is recommended.

4. IMPORTANT — DO NOT

To protect the finish and integrity of the PET felt:

Do not:

  • Saturate or soak the material with water.

  • Scrub the surface aggressively.

  • Use stiff or abrasive brushes.

  • Use abrasive pads or scouring materials.

  • Use strong solvents or harsh chemical cleaners.

  • Use high-pressure water cleaning.

  • Apply direct heat to accelerate drying.

  • Use a hair dryer, heat gun or similar high-temperature equipment.

  • Attempt aggressive cleaning that may distort the PET fibres.

Over-wetting, excessive friction and inappropriate cleaning products may permanently alter the appearance or texture of the material.

5. DRYING

After spot cleaning, allow PET felt products to dry naturally in a well-ventilated area.

Do not use direct heat to speed up the drying process.

For installed wall or ceiling products, ensure that excessive moisture does not accumulate behind the panel or around the mounting system.

The product should be completely dry before further cleaning or handling.

6. CARE OF WALL PANELS

For PET felt wall panels:

  • Remove dust periodically with a soft brush or low-suction vacuum.

  • Avoid repeated touching of the panel surface with dirty or oily hands.

  • Clean fingerprints and minor marks promptly.

  • Do not hang objects directly from the PET felt unless the product has been specifically designed for that purpose.

  • Periodically inspect panels and their fixing system for movement or damage.

7. CARE OF CEILING PANELS & BAFFLES

Suspended acoustic products may collect dust along their upper surfaces and edges.

During routine building maintenance:

  • Inspect suspended panels periodically.

  • Vacuum accessible surfaces using a soft attachment.

  • Avoid pulling, twisting or placing unnecessary pressure on suspended elements.

  • Do not use the acoustic product as a support for cables, decorations, signs or other building services.

  • If a panel or suspension component becomes displaced, have it checked before repositioning.

8. CARE OF CUSTOM-CUT & 3D PET FELT PRODUCTS

Products containing grooves, folds, embossed details, cut patterns or formed surfaces should be cleaned carefully to maintain their geometry.

Use a soft brush attachment to remove dust from recessed areas.

Do not force cleaning tools into narrow grooves or apply excessive pressure to formed edges.

For detailed surfaces, several gentle cleaning passes are preferable to aggressive brushing.

9. PRINTED PET FELT

Printed PET felt should be treated particularly carefully to preserve the visual finish.

For routine care, use gentle vacuuming with a soft brush attachment.

For marks, use a clean, lightly dampened microfiber cloth and blot rather than scrub. Always test any cleaning product on an inconspicuous area before treating the visible printed surface.

10. PERIODIC INSPECTION

As part of normal building maintenance, periodically inspect acoustic products for:

  • Dust accumulation

  • Surface marks or staining

  • Damaged or distorted edges

  • Loose panels

  • Changes to suspension components

  • Damage caused by other building services or contractors

Any damaged mounting or suspension components should be addressed before the product is returned to normal use.

11. STORAGE & HANDLING

Before installation or when products are temporarily removed:

  • Store panels in a clean and dry indoor environment.

  • Keep products protected from dirt, moisture and construction debris.

  • Avoid placing heavy objects on top of PET felt products.

  • Protect finished faces and edges during transportation.

  • Avoid bending products beyond their intended configuration.

  • Handle products with clean hands or clean gloves where appropriate.

LONG-TERM CARE

PET felt acoustic products require relatively little maintenance when installed in suitable interior environments. Gentle, regular cleaning is preferable to infrequent aggressive cleaning.

Routine removal of dust, prompt treatment of spills and careful handling will help maintain the appearance and condition of the acoustic installation over its service life.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Cleaning results can vary depending on the type of contamination, product colour, surface finish and cleaning agent used.

Always test cleaning products on an inconspicuous area before proceeding. Avoid excessive moisture and aggressive cleaning methods.
